FKM (Fluoroelastomer / Viton) vs PEEK CF30: 0% composition overlap. Significantly different materials serving different application areas.
FKM (Fluoroelastomer / Viton) vs PEEK CF30
Side-by-side chemical composition and mechanical property comparison.
Overview
FKM (Fluoroelastomer / Viton)
Fluoroelastomer β THE high-temperature and chemical-resistant rubber. Outstanding resistance to oils, fuels, acids, and solvents at temperatures up to 200Β°C (short-term 230Β°C). Fluorine content (64-70%) determines chemical resistance. Trade names: Viton (Chemours), Tecnoflon (Solvay), Dai-El (Daikin). 5-10x more expensive than NBR. Used for aerospace fuel seals, chemical process seals, automotive fuel injector O-rings, semiconductor processing, and any seal exposed to aggressive chemicals at high temperature.
PEEK CF30
PEEK with 30% short carbon fiber β the stiffest and strongest injection-moldable thermoplastic compound available. E-Mod ~24 GPa (vs 11 GPa GF30, 4.1 unfilled). UTS ~212 MPa. Electrically conductive (antistatic/EMI shielding). Outstanding wear/friction properties. Trade names: Victrex 450CA30, TECAPEEK CF30 (Ensinger), KetaSpire CF30 (Solvay). Used for semiconductor wafer handling, bearing cages, compressor components, and metal-replacement structural parts.
